I love the cold. The thermometer read -20 this morning, and I didn’t even feel sad.
Without the cold, everyone would want to live in one of the most naturally beautiful places in the world.
Because it’s cold, only 100,000 lovely souls are brave enough to form this unique spot on the globe.
Duluthians are idealistic, friendly, community-oriented, and I challenge you to find another city this size that supports the number of musical shows, festivals, a symphony, a ballet, multiple theater companies, an opera, art galleries, locally made food and drinks and six colleges and universities.
Because it’s cold, you can buy a lovely home in a safe neighborhood for under $250,000.
Because it’s cold, we have remarkably clean air and water.
Because it’s cold, the only traffic we ever experience is due to road construction.
Because it’s cold, we can have hundreds of miles of hiking, skiing, and mountain biking trails inside the city limits. Most people can walk to a river or the largest lake in the world.
The cold greatly enhances our quality of life. So, hello -20.
I welcome you.
