Duluth Mom

In December 2015, Ashley and her family moved to the beautiful North Shore of Minnesota and currently live in Two Harbors. She has the privilege of being a stay at home mom to her three daughters Ellie (born December 2013), Emma (born June 2016), and Nora (born October 2017). In addition to navigating motherhood she also is figuring out what it means to be a pastor's wife and keeping life in balance. When she's not busy chasing her oldest daughters or cuddling with her youngest, she enjoys crafting, baking, sipping on coffee (while its still hot), and conversation with other moms. Heather Jackson is a freelance writer who resides in Lakeside with her husband and two young daughters. You can often find her bribing her children with cookies at Amity Coffee so she can finish her latte, quoting the admirable Leslie Knope, and pretending she doesn’t live in fear of the truth that her back is hunched when she moves into downward dog during yoga class. Creative, always pondering and thinking, Alyssa Holmstrom loves the beautiful landscape Duluth has to offer. Reading a book, walking her beloved dog, cooking, or spending time with her strong and loving husband of six years, Todd are favorite pastimes of Alyssa's. Alyssa loves spending time with her friends. Her friends are so very important: making them laugh and drinking lots of coffee are her favorite ways to unwind! They are a true gift and bring much joy to her life! Walking together through infertility and adoption, they are praying about the joys and sorrows their story holds, and have seen the fruit of joy as they enjoy their new daughter. Adoption is something near and dear to her heart.

Kristina is a native Duluthian and mom to boy/girl twins who are two years old. While in graduate school in Boston she met her husband, who is originally from Ireland. They returned to the Zenith City six years ago where Kristina works as a nurse practitioner in a local urology practice. She enjoys planning vacations to exotic destinations that she hopes to actually take one day, using a label maker to organize all the things, and sipping a hot cup of coffee, preferably in quiet.

Sara is a stay home mom (not a regular mom, a “cool” mom) of two teenagers and two elementary grade kids, who is always stressed out because one has their driver's license, one is a free spirit, one is fearless, and one is always in the clouds. In her “free time”, she is a book reviewer, dance mom, true crime podcast junkie, Dateline/Keith Morrison fan club devotee, and an Amniotic Fluid Embolism survivor. Always honest and sometimes funny, you can also find her at her blog, Stranded in Chaos, where she shares good (and not so good) books, tales from mom life, recovery and life after birth trauma, and livin’ la vida loca after 40ish.

Adrienne lives in Duluth, MN with her two toddlers, Vera (4) and James (3), and her partner, Dave. When not tripping over matchbox cars, she is usually outside with a tasty beverage or over-scheduling the next three years.

Amber Gilbert is the mom of one 2 year-old, and the stepmom to two lovely teenagers. Amber grew up in Cloquet, studied English and Education at The College of St. Scholastica and Theatre in Colorado, before moving back to Cloquet to live with her husband after getting married five years ago. She has been a high school English and theatre teacher for 11 years and her husband is a stay-at-home dad. Amber enjoys cooking and meal planning, listening to true crime podcasts, and starting craft projects that she never finishes. She is excited to share all the ins and outs of raising toddlers and teenagers in a very blended family, and doing it pretty okay.

Fueled by family and black coffee, Chris is a circus monkey wrangler, marketing junkie, passionate Duluthian, sushi lover, police wife, and alarm snoozer. By day, Chris is a marketing professional immersed in content generation, social media management, and graphic design. By night, you’ll most likely find her pretending to be the Cleaver family with her husband, Ian. But let’s be realistic, two kiddos run the show at the Johnson house, Benny (3.5) and Emily (1). And somewhere in between work and home, she tries to find time to study for her MBA, cook, take weekend trips to the Johnson cabin, throw family dance parties, and binge on the Great British Baking Show.

Colleen is both a biological mom and a not so evil stepmom. Like many mothers, she was a perfect one before she had any children. She looks forward to sharing her not so perfect journey with other moms.

My name is Jamie Moll and I am a mom to my daughter, Gwendolyn, who is 16 months old. I live in Duluth with my husband, daughter, two dogs and another baby on the way!  I have my Masters degree in Montessori Education and have spent nearly 10 years in that environment with young children.  I am passionate about sharing Montessori practices that anyone can do in their home and helping parents find tools and strategies to guide their child during their early years.

I am an award winning boudoir photographer at my studio in downtown Duluth, where myself and my HMUA/Studio Manager work with women to make themselves feel beautiful in the skin that they are in.  My friendship can totally be bought with a good sense of humor, coffee, and baked goods. Kaila became a Duluthian four years ago after moving north from Minneapolis with her husband, Dan and son Haydn (5) to pursue adventure, a lifestyle change, and a new career for her spouse. The past few years have bought just that with the addition of two more to the family; Ada (3) and Ella (15 mo.). Kaila balances the demands of motherhood with working outside the home in commercial real estate. In her free time she enjoys a good vintage furniture find, her coffee strong, and baking from scratch.

Mom of twin two-year old boys, full-time soccer coach, and animal lover, in that order, Kelly can be found trying to herd her children, on the soccer field or attempting to rescue another dog. A longtime UMD assistant soccer coach, Kelly has also been the Communications Director of UMD women's hockey since 2007. Engaged to marry her partner Charla in August 2018, Kelly lives in the Chester Park area with her sons, four rescue dogs and rescue cat.

Laura is a tenacious, honest, and witty spirit who views the world in anything but black and white. She seeks moments when she can hear the stories of others and build meaningful connections. She moved to Duluth in 2005 to attend UMD. She obtained a Master's degree in Social Work, all while falling in love with Duluth and her partner, Jeff. She is the mom of two beautiful humans who are two years apart (to the exact day-September 21st, 2015 & 2017). They share a home (built in 1907) in the East Hillside of Duluth. Laura likes to spend her time paddle boarding, connecting with friends, listening to podcasts, exercising, "campERing" & hiking with her family, drinking craft beer & cider, and "geeking" on old architecture. Lifelong daydreamer and mother of one, Nicole Luoma has been a Minnesota resident since 2011. A former PNW native, she is a lover of rainy days and rolling waves. She enjoys old romcoms, Turkish pop music, and adding too much garlic to everything she cooks. You can find her musings on life and motherhood at mamaandmoonbeam.com

Tanya is a newish mom raising her 2-year-old daughter with her husband in Cloquet, Minnesota while working fulltime outside of the home as a public school teacher. She enjoys reading a variety of books, dining out at local establishments, and spending time with her family. As someone who finds labels to be limiting, Tanya strongly believes that all moms are more than that and she encourages them to discover and own their identities.

Beatriz is a mom of four kids who are of preschool age and younger. She and her husband Kyle are raising their kids in Cloquet but have lived in Duluth also! They love all the outdoor events that the Northland has to offer and how the local communities come together. You can find them recharging during the week while playing volleyball or having a nice quiet dinner outside of the home. When they started their business North Wall & Paint (providing world-class paint and drywall services with a hometown feel), it really showed them the importance of supporting local and being involved in the community.

Meet Emily, mom to 2 year old twins Lucie & Charlotte! She likes to cook, watches too much HGTV, and loves fashion -- although lately she is focusing that love of fashion on matching outfits for her girls while she wears yoga pants. Emily is quickly realizing that becoming a stay-at-home mom doesn't magically make you a super mom with a perfectly decorated house that cooks gourmet meals all the time -- but she is embracing the chaos and hoping to share some of the hilarious craziness that is raising twin toddlers with you!

Sarah, a Duluth native, has always found her happy place to be near the water. This love is shared with her husband and two children (elementary-aged daughter and preschool-aged son).  Sarah spends her days running two businesses, DLH Clothing and Šek Design Studio with her husband.  Although she spends most of her time with DLH, she provides backend support for Šek as well, and also currently serves on the Board of Directors of YWCA Duluth.  When she has a little free time, she enjoys finding adventures with her children, practicing yoga, curling up with a good book and drinking black tea.

Hailing from the great state of North Dakota Melainy is new to the Duluth area and excited to explore all the great places and activities the Twin Ports area has to offer. Her Husband Ben, originally from Chisholm, 14 month old Jameson, and two 50lb English Setters have recently settled into small town living in Esko, MN and are eager to make their new house a home. As a first time mom, moving to a new town and a new state is chaotic and Melainy and her family are embracing the challenge. Rachel, known "Queen Patina" to friends and family is a reluctant social media user, a lover of old books, flowers, and furniture. Typically you'll find her with her hands in the dirt, plastic tiara slightly askew, or carefully restoring a piece of furniture. If she's not doing that, she's definitely hanging with the fam, traveling the US of A, running a local trail, or camping and most recently, working as a birth photographer.
