On the evening of April 13th, One Hundred guests along with their friends and/or partners gathered at the Glensheen for a fun night out to honor moms for our first annual Mommy Awards. The weather was perfect and the atmosphere was amazing for our red carpet event.
Due to construction in the basement of the Glensheen where our event would have normally taken place, we had a once in a lifetime opportunity to hold our event on the main level of the Glensheen and socialize like the Congdon’s would have years ago.
Our guests were greeted by our Duluth Moms Blog owner and executive team, the sounds of Heartstrings, and our event photographer JaneCane Photography who snapped pictures of their arrival for them to download in the near future. Guests brought donations to our partner, First Witness– a local organization that supports children and ends child abuse. Together we collected over five full bags of non-perishable food items that we will be dropping off for them this week!
The Glensheen was open for our guests to leisurely wander around and take in the beautifully adorned spaces on the first and second level of the mansion.
Our friends at Security Jewelers lent a few lucky ladies some jewels from their store. What a special treat to wear such beautiful pieces for the evening!
Black Woods provided us with delicious Hors d’Oeuvres for our social hour.
Our friends over at Snazzy Cakes made us the MOST amazing and beautiful cake we had ever seen! Seriously, just look at this creation! {and for the record.. it tasted just as amazing}!
Bella Flora made sure we had plenty of color sprinkled everywhere when they provided us with not only amazing centerpieces, but the flowers on the cake, and a bouquet for the “mom of the year” award!
Jane from the Glensheen made the announcement that those in attendance could come back in June to kick off their self-guided tours and claim their annual pass! {More details to follow on that}!
Midway through the evening our cake from Snazzy Cakes was cut and served and our guests flooded the first floor corridor waiting for the awards ceremony to begin.
Daniel Elnes, our sponsor and partner was the brain-child behind this event. He had a vision that all moms should receive an award for their hard work as a mom whether they are a stay-at-home mom or work outside the home. Dan stated that while he receives awards at his corporate job for his hard work, his wife labors tirelessly at home with their three little kids and it often goes unnoticed. Dan wanted to honor ALL hard working moms on this evening and we were thrilled to have him as a partnering sponsor for our event.
In the weeks leading up to the event as the nominations came in, they were printed off and names were whited out before handing them off to our nominations committee. The committee was made up of three females, and one male. Each winner received some chocolate, a bottle of wine, and a certificate with their name on it!
With bated breath, the “Mom of the Year” award was announced and Holly Elnes was chosen! Congratulations Holly on this well deserved award.
Holly received a bottle of wine, chocolate, family mini session from JaneCane Photography, an engraved frame from Security Jewelers, and a beautiful bouquet of flowers from Bella Flora.
Congratulations again to all of our winners from this years Mommy Awards!
