Featuring guest soprano Hope Koehler (West Virginia University, American Spiritual Ensemble), the Arrowhead Chorale explores sacred music in a variety of expressions from early chant to Mozart’s majestic Coronation Mass K. 319 to Sanctus from Leonard Bernstein’s Mass. The focus will then shift to the American spiritual, a truly unique and powerful genre described as “breathing the prayer and complaint of souls boiling over with the bitterest anguish.”* Ms. Koehler will join the Chorale with solo and collaborative performances of the music of Moses Hogan, Jester Hairston, and others. This promises to be a memorable and moving musical event in our community.
