2nd Annual Birthday Gala Recap

0

Oh What Fun!

Our Second Annual Birthday Gala on Thursday, November 29th, 2018 was truly an evening to remember. It was the perfect event to help kick off the holiday season. Picture it: a beautiful mansion brimming with beautiful holiday decor and stunningly-attired mamas who all came together to have a fancy-shmancy evening out on the town. We were all excited to have the opportunity to trade in our usual evening attire (which usually consists of sweats and an old high school track sweatshirt) for something a little snazzier.

THANK YOU to St. Luke’s, Glensheen, and Carlson Orthodontics!

We are thrilled that the Glensheen invited us back to help us host another event in the most stunning mansion this side of Lake Superior (and the second best holiday historic home tour in the country!). Countless Minnesota families have regularly visited the Glensheen over the years, but if you haven’t yet, we recommend you catch yourself a glimpse of this beautiful estate ASAP. Let its beauty wow you the next time you take a tour.

Building community goes beyond getting to know your neighbors. It’s also about getting to know your locally-owned and operated businesses. We strive to make sure Duluth Moms Blog events provide opportunities for local businesses to showcase their services and products to our audience of readers. We cannot say enough good things about the businesses who shared their time and talents with us all at the Gala. We thank each and every one of them for providing amazing food, desserts, and services to show our moms how special they are.

Put simply, our events wouldn’t be possible without the sponsorship of St. Luke’s, the Glensheen Mansion, and Carlson Orthodontics. I can confidently speak for our entire team and over 100 beautiful moms in attendance at the Gala when I say “THANK YOU!”

FOOD AND BEVERAGE SPONSORS

What’s a party without food, drinks and desserts? Thank you to Carlson Orthodontics for generously sponsoring the bar services from Belissio’s and the platters from Northern Waters Smokehaus! We know our attendees enjoyed tasting some of the very best culinary options from Duluth’s finest catering and dessert businesses. We have had the privilege of not only working with all three of these amazing local businesses, but experiencing their food and desserts first-hand beyond our events.

Northern Waters Smokehaus

Did you try the pastrami, Mommy?! We did, and also a half of the Sitka sushi sandwich. Tasty nourishment after a long week at the office or in-home management! Northern Waters Smokehaus Catering is always easy to work with, and their food presentation is delightful.

Sugar on Top Sweet Shop

You may recognize this talented baker from DMB posts–she is one of our contributing writers. Not only are her cupcakes as cute as can be, but they are perfectly sweet as well! Check out Sugar on Top Sweet Shop. You will want Kristina to bake for your next celebration.

Bridgeman’s

We wouldn’t miss the chance to have this local favorite share their yummy ice cream with our guests. It was a birthday party after all! We love having Bridgeman’s sponsor the build your own sundae bar at the gala!

GIVEAWAY SPONSORS

We had 13 AMAZING giveaways from both local and national companies. Some very lucky attendees went home with awesome gifts!

SWAG SPONSORS

We so appreciate Mellin Promotional Advertising and their willingness to sponsor the totes again this year! We also partnered with other local small businesses to bring the swag bag to our guests! If you are a business and are interested in showcasing your product or talents in our events swag bag, please email [email protected]

DECOR SPONSOR

We have been honored to partner with Northland Special Events for the past several DMB events and love everything Mariah creates for us. NSE encompasses three amazing businesses under one roof, including Duluth Balloon Company and Superior Blooms. They provided the show stopping “Oh What Fun” birthday balloons, and oh what fun they were! We were able to simply send a few pictures over of what our vision was for the event, and they showed up with their creativity! Mariah and her team always create a beautiful finished product for us and we are so lucky to work with them!

EVENT PHOTOGRAPHER

Anna from Along an Inland Sea Photography has been our event photographer from the very beginning and she was at the Gala to capture the whole evening. With her keen eye for perfect shots, she always manages to show off the best sides of all of us–our smiles, our laughs, our connections with one another. We are so thankful for our amazing partnership with her!

Volunteer and Team Appreciation

Contributing writers, volunteers, executive team — we wouldn’t have the content for the readers, or the readers for these events without them! Thank you for all of your passion, efforts and time!

We want to thank ALL OF YOU  for spending the evening with us. It’s truly humbling to see how many of you came ready to celebrate! We had a great time socializing with you and the team loved getting to meet those of you who read our words and take part in our online community each and every day. Watching moms make connections with each other–both online and in person–is why we do what we do. We hope you enjoyed your night off from parenting. Thank you, once again, for coming to the Duluth Moms Blog Birthday Gala!

Keep an eye out for more information about our upcoming BLOOM event that will take place May 2nd, 2019 at Clyde Iron Works! If you are interested in sponsorship or volunteering please email [email protected]

We are so grateful to partner with sponsors like St. Luke's, Glensheen, and Carlson Orthodontics to bring events like this to our devoted readers.

Andrea Jang
A lake girl at heart, Andrea is thrilled to be a Duluthian! She lives in the Hillside with her husband, daughter (plus two angel babies that are with them in spirit), and two rescue pups. As a bi-racial and multicultural family, they have hopes and dreams of visiting her husband’s family in South Korea someday soon. Tiny joys that make her heart happy include: doodling, searching for sea glass, coffee with friends, fiber art, plants, a good vintage thrift find, music and great food & drinks. She also finds purpose in serving on the Diversity, Inclusion, Equity and Justice (DEIJ) committee at her daughter’s school, and also on City Mom Collective’s Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) committee. You will find her building community, connections and friendships in the northland as the owner of Duluth Mom. She invites you to visit her on Instagram or on LinkedIn.
