The Monarch Butterflies are Coming! Bring your Family to the Duluth Monarch Festival.
Keynote speaker, Emily Stone, will present “Ecology of Overwintering Monarchs in Mexico”. Emily is the naturalist/education director at the Cable Natural History Museum, recently returned from the monarch sanctuaries.
Another session this year: “Be a citizen scientist…yes, you can!” ; introduces community science programs.
Shoreview Natives, from Two Harbors, will be selling milkweed and other native pollinator plants, all from seed locally collected.
Activities: Children’s crafts, face painting, storytelling, monarch movies. Live monarch eggs, caterpillars, and butterflies.
Master Gardeners, Wild Ones – Arrowhead Chapter, Duluth Zoo, author Linda Glaser, artist Mary Plaster, Monarch Joint Venture, and Monarch Waystation Tour & others will be hosting information tables.
Purchase monarch t-shirts, books, and toys. FREE milkweed seed!
Food will be available inside.
