#tellher

In northern Minnesota, Duluth Moms Blog is known for providing written blog posts and cultivating relationships through our online social media platforms. We jump at the chance to connect with our readers in person as often as is possible! This spring we had our annual Bloom event, where we celebrated all walks of motherhood and provided valuable local resources to new and expecting moms.

This year a local photographer, Michaela Rai, added value to Bloom through her “Tell Her” photo booth experience. She showed up to Clyde Iron Works in style with her beautifully designed backdrop and #tellher sign. When guests arrived at her booth, they were encouraged to pick a handwritten message from one of the many envelopes posted on the backdrop. As guests sat down to read what was written on their note, Michaela photographed them, capturing their reaction towards what they were reading. After the message soaked in, the participating women were encouraged to write a note to put back in the empty envelope, intended for the next participant. These notes were written along the themes of motherhood, womanhood, self- confidence and positive self-image.

A Note from Michaela

“I am totally in love with beautiful, honest storytelling. I want to show you as you truly are and document the story as it really happened. If I can be a part of the cause for better acceptance of ourselves, as we were created to be, and of our lives, with their ups and downs, then I have done what I was meant to do. The purpose of this booth was to draw women together in their common experiences, in woman- and motherhood, pregnancy and birth, and to encourage each other through our shared experience. Enjoy!” – Michaela

Andrea Jang
A lake girl at heart, Andrea is thrilled to be a Duluthian! She lives in the Hillside with her husband, daughter (plus two angel babies that are with them in spirit), and two rescue pups. As a bi-racial and multicultural family, they have hopes and dreams of visiting her husband’s family in South Korea someday soon. Tiny joys that make her heart happy include: doodling, searching for sea glass, coffee with friends, fiber art, plants, a good vintage thrift find, music and great food & drinks. She also finds purpose in serving on the Diversity, Inclusion, Equity and Justice (DEIJ) committee at her daughter’s school, and also on City Mom Collective’s Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) committee. You will find her building community, connections and friendships in the northland as the owner of Duluth Mom. She invites you to visit her on Instagram or on LinkedIn.
